The electric company here, CUC, has implemented temporary rolling blackouts across the island to help facilitate repairs to two damaged generating units. It is causing a lot of frustration as there is no warning that a blackout is on its way and businesses are starting to feel the impact of trying to serve their customers without power!
What I find really funny is this part of the article:
"Customers will not receive inconvenience discounts because of the power outages. And customers will not be charged for the time the power is out.:
Surely CUC would not consider charging us for power we haven't used because we cannot use it? Ha ha. The link to the article is here in case you're interested in reading more: http://www.compasscayman.com/caycompass/2011/04/06/Power-outages-continue,-affect-businesses/
I had the pleasure of picking up Hunter from daycare as well the other day when I picked up AK. The two of them settled quite nicely with a snack / dinner of edamame beans, cheese sticks, crackers and apple slices. AK was slow eating her apple, and Hunter snuck a couple of pieces out of her bowl. Doesn't take these kids long to learn to be sneaky!
I've kept busy this week with yoga and and I tried salsa dancing for the first time last night. I think I may try to go on a regular basis... lessons are held every Tuesday starting at 930pm (nearly bedtime!!!). I've got a hair appointment and book club tonight so the evening will pass quickly.
Back to work - I'm in the midst of month-end and it's busy! xo
