Catching up...

I have been trying to collect a few stories here and there to share with you...

  • Every night I ask AK what the best part of her day was and what the worst part was.  Some answers are pretty routine - staying on "green" at school for good behavior, yoga and playing with friends are always highlights, and usually "nothing" is the worst part.  The other night, she did say that the worst part of the day was that our patio screen has not been installed yet...  we have been waiting on it for two months now and although some work has been done, it's not finished yet.  I didn't realize how closely AK was listening to our conversations about it though!  Fingers crossed it got finished today so that we may be able to take the table and chairs out and dine outside!
  • I took AK and her friend to the spa for pedicures.  They had an awesome time and then the friend came over for the afternoon.  The girls had a great time together and were no trouble at all.  When the friend got picked up and the vehicle drove away, AK turned to me and said "I wish Abby could be my sister"...  so sweet!  It was a really nice playdate as AK hasn't really had any girl friends over to play at our new home - she's surrounded by boys!
  • I asked AK to help me make meatballs on the weekend.  She LOVED the process.  She didn't even flinch when the raw meat went in - I didn't think she'd like the texture of it.  She helped me mix it all together and formed about half of the meatballs.  The bonus was that she also really enjoyed eating them!
  • Friends who used to live here are visiting right now.  AK asked this morning when they were getting on the plane to come.  I told her they had come yesterday and the look of pure joy on her face was awesome.  She will have a couple of great opportunities to visit with her friends this weekend!  Can't wait!
  • I told AK about some travel plans that we've made for over the Easter Break.  She huffed and said "why do we have to travel ALL THE TIME?  I want people to come here to visit me!"
  • The above was shortly after my friend Pam visited.  When AK saw the empty guest room after Pam left, she burst into tears and was inconsolable for several minutes.  She was upset that Pam was here "so short" and wondered why she had to leave!  She loves company and making friends...
That's all I got for now!
