Weekend kickoff!

Yesterday, when I picked up AK from school, I asked her if she would rather go to the movie store to get a movie or just go home. She opted to pick up a movie and told me she wanted "Lightening Queen!". We picked up Cars and that was our Friday night treat. I gave AK some popcorn but she wanted nothing to do with it. Weird? Guess she was in a sweet, and not salty, treat mood last night!

This morning, I woke around 6am and dozed back off until 630am, at which time I realized my door was shut. I bolted out of bed, fearing for the worst on the other side... what kind of destruction was AK up to? I opened the door to find her with the Easter flowers she'd made at daycare in her hands... only now they are Mother's Day flowers and I had to make sure they go everywhere with me today...

AK is currently looking over and telling me about the Mother's Day card she made as well. Inside is her "handprint" and it has "sparkles" and the card says "I love you". She is talking up a mile a minute so far this morning. I hope she saves some of that energy for later... we have a busy day ahead of us! xo

Wednesday tidbits!

Loads of gems from AK's mouth today!

  • I picked her up from daycare and let her know that we needed to drive out to West Bay to pick up Mommy's pictures (my canvases from Cuba). As we drove out there, we pointed out all the different places we knew. I pointed at Camana Bay and asked AK what that was. Her answer was "creaky crane-ky". There is a big crane used for construction there and all the kids get super excited to see "creaky crane-ky".
  • She would tell me that we were "going to pick up Mommy's pictures, can I look at the pictures, Mommy? Then I'm going to get a haircut, then we're going to go home". I told her that we'd have supper when we got home and got "I don't want supper Mommy!".
  • AK loved getting her bangs trimmed today. She smiled and giggled and made the hairdresser fall in love with her (this was a new hairdresser that will trim AK's bangs for FREE!). She noticed that AK's bangs have been cut incorrectly so we'll have some weird stuff going on while part of the sides grow out. I think she did a really good job though. AK got a good tickle when the hairdresser used her brush to brush off the hairs when she was done.
  • I gave AK some licorice while she got her hair cut to bribe her to sit still. When she was done, she asked for more and I pulled out the empty wrapper to show her I didn't have more. She threw the wrapper back in my purse in disgust. Ha!
  • AK enjoyed looking at my canvases. She identified the flowers (she still says "fallows" for flowers), loved the yellow sun and blue moon, and thought both musicians were playing drums and tried to play along with them by tapping the canvas. She told me to "hang them up now!" and pointed at where she thinks they should go (I'm slightly alarmed that she pointed at the ceiling for a couple of them). There's also one that is a gift for someone and she shook her finger at it saying "not for us, Mommy!"
  • We sat down for supper and AK snatched my fork. I asked her to get another fork out of the drawer, thinking she'd be too short to reach one for me... I was wrong! She came back, very proudly carrying a big fork for me!
  • We scooted down to the pool after supper (AK has a Radio Flyer scooter that she is getting quite good on) and those ducks were there again. AK giggled and exclaimed over them for ages. "The ducks are here! The ducks are swimming in the water! The ducks are drinking the water! Hee hee hee! Silly ducks!" It was quite funny to see how giggly she was. I think I need to let the landlords know about the ducks as I'm starting to worry about what kinds of ick they could be putting in the pool :( as it is there's duck poo all around the pool now. That can't be good.
That's all for now, folks! xo

Getting caught up!

I ended up getting out bed too late on Friday morning... I am kicking myself now for not being up to watch everyone arrive at the church, including the bride. I also missed the vows... but did see part of the church service and the procession to BuckinghamPalace. The power went out so I missed something in between but did get to catch the kiss(es). AK woke up as people were exiting the church, and we talked about a prince and a princess getting married, and admired all the hats. She then said "I want a Princess Jamine hat"! (Jasmine is the princess from Aladdin for those of you who may not know...). Anyone know where I can find one? Ha!

Friday morning we headed over to Sue's for a playdate with Kylie. The girls got into everything - puzzles, games, painting, tea party, lots of fun times! AK went to Cindy's in the afternoon so I could go to a workshop and it sounds like the girls had a great time. Cindy had an Easter craft for them to do and AK brought home some lovely works of art. Time flew on Friday and before I knew it, it was time for AK to go to her daddy's house.

Thankfully Jenni asked me to come over for supper so that kept me busy. We went over to the new condo to check it out - sounds like they will be moving by the end of May! Very exciting for them.

Saturday I took the cover off of AK's car seat so that I could wash it... I found the usual assortment of sand, cheerios and raisins... but I also found 35 cents. I have NO idea where that came from... it's not like AK carries money in her pocket! I spent the rest of the day shopping and going to a restorative yoga workshop, which was a very good experience. Today was full of more yoga and a birthday brunch for a friend. I certainly ate enough good food this weekend!!!

Plans are starting to come together for Mother's Day next weekend. Hooray!

Oh boy

I'd better keep this short if I have any hope of getting to bed early enough to get up at the crack of middle-of-the-night to watch the Royal Wedding!

Well Hunter's party was a splashing success! I am wiped - something about a near-3yo and water does that to you! I was so busy keeping AK from drowning that I didn't take one.single.picture. Bummer.

AK and Hunter both refused to go down the waterslide. AK thought it was fun to watch everyone else go down though. I wonder where she gets this scaredy-cat-ness from - oh yeah, probably me. Anyway... we played in the pool, sat in the hot (more like lukewarm) tub, had some food and cake, and played on the seats at the swim-up bar. AK was trying very hard to do everything on her own, but kept slipping and wouldn't wear her water wings so she kept going under the water... over and over and over again.

I'm trying to figure out my strategy for the wedding tonight... coverage starts on BBC at 230am. The couch is pretty comfy, especially with the legs reclined out (the ends of my couches are like La-Z-Boys) so I could get pretty comfortable and doze off on the couch if I wished during the coverage. Might get the kettle ready in case I want a spot of tea... forgot to stop by the store for scones and crumpets though! I forgot to tell AK that a Prince and Princess are getting married soon... wonder what she'll think of that?

TGIF (Thursday is pretending to be Friday)

I know I've mentioned the neighbors upstairs before, but I really do love having them up there. I put my trash outside my door yesterday morning, intending to take it to the garbage cans when we left the apartment. By the time I left, the guy upstairs had taken the trash out for me, and had rinsed the dirt off of Christie and Chris' car. Bonus for them getting such a clean car back!

AK farted in the tub the other night and giggled. That's my girl!

She threw a fit yesterday morning because she wanted to wipe herself after going pee. Even though I phrased it as "getting what she missed", she absolutely didn't want my help. A nice big meltdown followed. Nothing like a tantrum to wake you up fully - coffee's got nothing on a screaming toddler!

I babysat last night. AK and Hunter sat at the coffee table, eating their ham, cheese, crackers and carrots, and are completely mesmerized by Dora. Well, AK ate, Hunter not so much. I don't think he likes my food very much!

We also spent some time outside playing with chalk and had a bath! There were some silly moments in the tub...

Hunter didn't want to put his pyjamas on after his bath so he ran around with just a pullup on. I guess he wanted his Thomas pyjamas but unfortunately for him, his mom had packed his Cars pyjamas. I dunno... I think Cars is WAY cooler than Thomas but how do you explain that to a 3yo?

AK is loving princesses right now, and has a new favorite every few days. Right now it's Princess Jasmine from Aladdin. Every morning, she asks to wear Princess X panties... she is usually disappointed when I don't have said panties as she already wore all pairs of them and they are now dirty...

Today at work will go by quickly at work, I think, then we are off to Hunter's birthday party after work today. We are going to Margaritaville to play on the waterslide there. We can stay out late and party all night as tomorrow is a public holiday again - in honor of the Royal Wedding! How lucky are we? xo
