I know this post is terribly overdue but I finally sat down and got some pictures from the camera onto the computer!  It was great to collect AK from the airport and finally celebrate Christmas with her!  She was in awe that Santa had visited here as well.  She assumed that he would only be visiting her in Canada! 

Santa's big gift to AK was a pet fish.  She promptly named him Flowers but has subsequently renamed him Feathers.  Who can figure out her logic?  AK does a great job of helping to feed Flowers / Feathers every morning and we do think he has fit into our family nicely!

AK also was happy to receive some Christmas ornaments.  This kid cannot get enough of Christmas ornaments and still has a few out that she likes to play with.  Perhaps by the time Easter rolls around, we'll have everything packed away!

We celebrated with our friends a week later with my annual Ukrainian Christmas Eve dinner...  did it about a week late but it was fabulous otherwise.  I completely forgot to take pictures but trust that it was a houseful of company and great food.

Meeting Baby M!

Dear friends of mine have been blessed with a beautiful baby girl.  I took AK to meet the baby, just several hours old, about a week and a half ago.

AK was excited to meet the baby, but as you can see, promptly put on her "deer in the headlights" look as soon as the baby cried.  Poor kiddo!  I asked her what we do when a baby cries, and she misunderstood my question as "what did you do to make the baby cry?" and responded "NOTHING!"

Sports Day 2013

Wee Care held a Sports Day a couple of weeks ago.  I wasn't sure if AK was up for going or not but the teachers at school had built it up so much that AK was raring to go!  I was worried that she might fall and bump her knee, which she'd skinned and bruised quite nicely a couple of days prior, but my worry was for naught :)

We were only able to attend for an hour as AK had to jet off to ballet afterwards, but we were able to take part in the opening parade around the field, and then AK ran one race.  I love the second photo - she's flying like the wind!!!  She actually did pretty good - last time I took her, she got distracted halfway through and I'm not sure she even made it over the finish line!

Santa so kindly brought Richard a helicopter ride for Christmas.  We did that on Boxing Day and it was amazing.  It was a beautiful sunny day and I'm so pleased that Richard enjoyed himself!

Richard and I have been having some good fun over the Christmas break!  We did a pre-Christmas brunch at Luca followed by fun at Royal Palms.  I may have had a bit of a headache the next day...  then on Christmas morning we did the Westin brunch.  It was a lovely way to celebrate Christmas with some very special friends!  We also did a big "family" dinner with loads of friends on Christmas as well...  felt just like home with about 24 adults and kids to go with the adults!  Lots of chaos, noise and laughter - just the way Christmas should be!

We've also enjoyed some good fun nights with friends, playing games, but since Boxing Day the vast majority of our conversations have revolved around wedding planning.  We may as well take advantage of the time without AK to get stuff done!  I think we are pretty close to having a venue sorted out...  yahoo!
