Tooth #2... what an adventure!

A few hours after the incident...

The next morning!
AK recently lost Tooth #2...  sure didn't fall out quietly and peacefully!

After one day of camp last week, we stopped by Dart Park for her to play and blow off some steam (sadly, camp didn't tire her out!).  It was all fun and games and slides, until she came running around the corner of the play structure with a bloody, sandy face...  ugh...  the poor girl had come off the monkey bars, intending to land on her feet, but landed on her face instead.  The first thing I noticed was that her loose tooth was no longer in her mouth...  so once I got her a bit cleaned up and calmed down, we went back to the site of the fall to see if we could find the missing tooth.  There were a couple of nannies there with their children who gave us a hand but one of them suggested that AK had perhaps swallowed her tooth as we couldn't find any sign of it.  Oops!

We headed home and got some ice on the lip and nose and AK actually dozed off in my arms until I started to wonder if I should keep her awake in case she had any signs of a concussion...  so I woke a very sleepy little girl up and cleaned off her face.  Sand everywhere!  We washed as much off as gently as we could and left the rest to come out over time.  AK managed a bit of food and drink at supper that night and woke up quite happy and hungry the next morning!  By Friday, all you could see were a couple of scrapes on her face and the inside of her mouth was nearly back to normal.

Here's to hoping losing Tooth #3 will be less traumatic!

AK turns 6 - photo shoot

AK's dance studio does Disney!

In June, AK's dance studio did a student presentation at the Playhouse.  It was a great way for parents to be shown what their children had been working on for the past two terms.

Perfect pose!

Birthday Spa

On AK's birthday, I treated her and her friend, Emma, to a spa trip to have their nails done!  There was lots of giggling and smiles and I think they loved it!

BFFs!

It tickles!

Loving it!

All done!

Emma's turn

Birthday girl :)

Girl time!

Matching fingers
Emma and AK have been inseparable at school and get along really well.  Unfortunately Emma is moving away in a week's time and I know AK will miss her a lot.  Fingers crossed we'll be able to keep that friendship alive for AK.

Birthday Dinner

We had some of our nearest and dearest friends over for pizza and cupcakes to celebrate with us the night before AK's birthday.  Some photos below...  The only catastrophe was that Julie lent me some icing supplies to decorate the cupcakes...  I left the icing tip in the sink once I was done with it to remind myself to rinse and wash it...  I forgot about it and it slipped down the sink and got beat up by the garburator.  Oops!  I've bought a replacement but still need to get it over to her :)

Waiting patiently for... ???

Loving the sparkler!

Another one
I know this is a few weeks late but I'm finally sharing with you AK's birthday morning!  AK came straight into our room when she woke up and I managed to distract her with some cartoons until Richard came upstairs with coffee and milk so I could wake up a bit :) then we headed right into opening gifts!  AK was spoiled...  I always overdo it but I tried really hard this year and think I managed okay!  The best part though, was giving AK her new Frozen backpack and lunchbag, with a surprise inside - see video HERE

We headed out for breakfast at Camana Bay and had to stop for some photo ops with the World Cup football statue.  Fun!  AK had a gift certificate so we popped into the bookstore for a bit of shopping.  It was a happy and successful morning!

Frozen Birthday Party!

Waiting patiently...

It was windy enough that it was tough to light the candles!

Whoo!!!

Yummo - birthday kiddos

Getting right into that cupcake deliciousness!

Happy family...

Opening gifts later
At the beginning of June, we co-hosted a classroom birthday party for AK with her friend Hart's parents.  The kids' birthdays are just a few days apart plus we figured early June would be a good time for the party due to all the end-of-school year activities (speaking of which, how did I end up with a going-into-Grade-1-er???).

The party was a great success - the kids played in the pool for a few hours and ate lots of good food.  It was such a blessing to co-host as it divided the work with double the fun!  It was also a really great opportunity to visit with the parents and get to know them a bit more.  School drop-offs and pick-ups aren't the best time to chat!
